Managing Director of HydroGrow, Ben Blampied-Smyth, is the most qualified technician of turf science in the Channel Islands. Ben has more than 20 years’ experience in land management. He began his career as a soil technician for the growing industry before becoming the greenskeeper for the Royal Jersey Golf Club prior to founding HydroGrow. As a greenskeeper, he managed the implementation of a £1million irrigation project.
Ben holds an NVQ4 in Golf Course Management and a Foundation Degree in Sports Turf & Soil Science. He is a professionally qualified spray technician and land maintenance machinery operator.
His level of expertise has seen him approached by a number of TV programmes and he has appeared on both ‘The One Show’ and ‘Countryfile’ as an expert on ecology projects. He holds a national award for ecology through ‘The Environmental Awards’, run by the Institute of Turf Science.
